Celebrating 10 Years

Good news! You don’t have to be a young camper to help us celebrate our 10th anniversary this June 20–24, 2018.

Individuals and organizations can easily support our conservation and ecology camp for girls and boys ages 11 to 16 in a meaningful way by sponsoring this year’s High Adventure Education sessions.

Becoming a sponsor is an opportunity to help young outdoor enthusiasts (and their parents), our staff, and volunteers experience a fun, educational, and memorable four days of camp. Additionally, all sponsor names are listed prominently on our website and included among our camp session activities. Can the campers count on you this year?

2018 Pheasants Forever State Convention

Our year begins January 19-20 in Willmar, MN at the Pheasants Forever state convention. We’ll be there to swap stories, tips and tricks while exhibiting the fun and educational outdoor activities that so many young girls and boys enjoy at T.U.N.E. Camp MN. If you attend the show, be sure to stop by our booth to say hello. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.

Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo ’17

Bruce, Vic, and other volunteers are running the T.U.N.E. Camp MN booth at the GWFFE this weekend at Hamline University in St. Paul. Follow the link for the schedule and details about the Expo. There is so much to see and do. There is even a huge pool to practice casting on!

We had a quiet day yesterday, but expect to be very busy today and tomorrow. Janine Kohn, creator of the T.U.N.E. program swung in with her husband, Benji, who will be a Camp volunteer again this summer. David and his daughter, Lindsay, a Camper from last year, are volunteering to run the booth today. You can ask her what she thought of T.U.N.E. Camp MN.

Stop by the booth and say hello, check out our display, make your own “fish prints” as these boys are doing, put insect stamps (temporary tattoos) on your skin, or even lend us a hand. We hope to see you there.

Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo

Mark your Calendars!

The GWFFE will be held at Hamline University March 17, 18, 19. T.U.N.E. Camp MN will have an informational and activity booth at the Expo once again. If you are interested in volunteering to set-up, run, or take-down the booth, contact Bruce Gockowski.

Maybe we will see you there. It is a superb show. Many, many vendors, presentations, demonstrations, fly-tiers combine to make an exciting Expo every year. There are usually a number of youth-oriented activities planned throughout the weekend, but be sure to check the show schedule for details. Bruce will have the “fish-printing” station set up at our booth so the kids can make some unique artworks to take home.

2017 Pheasant Fest

The National Pheasant Fest was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center February 17-19 and T.U.N.E. Camp MN had its own informational booth. Judging by how busy our booth attendants were, it is safe to say we were received very well. We met a lot of youngsters & parents from all around the nation who showed strong interest in our Camp. Many people took printed Camp flyers or Camper Registration Packets home with them; if only a fraction of the youngsters we met decide to register, we could fill our camper vacancies very quickly this year. We may have a camper or two coming all the way from Illinois this summer! Don’t hesitate to Register.

There were a few enthusiastic adults who inquired about volunteering their time and expertise at Camp. Bruce, our Camp Director, was able to make connections with people from different facets of various conservation organizations.  Most of those that heard the T.U.N.E. Camp MN story were impressed by our program and the success we have enjoyed. One young couple made an unsolicited cash donation right on the spot! We even met folks from an Illinois PF Chapter that were so impressed with what we are doing that they offered to support us with a donation as well.

Thank-you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy (over what turned out to be an unseasonably mild, sunny, beautiful February weekend) to help set-up, run, and take-down the booth. Thanks go to Bruce, Larisa, Max, Vic, Benji, Chris, Katie, & Neil.  As always, we can’t do this without our Volunteers!
